Radiation properties of a 'Gaussian' antenna
Abstract
Attention is given to the expressions for the half-power beamwidth and directivity of a discrete binomial array, which have been computed by Ricardi (1972). It is shown that calculations for a binomial antenna can be reduced to the calculations for a Gaussian antenna when N (number of antenna elements spaced lambda/2 apart) is greater than 5 providing sigma(G) is taken to be the square root of (L lambda/8). This should simplify the algebra of such calculations and permit a better model where the fields are actually continuous.
