Monolithic mm-wave antennas
Abstract
Semiconductor dipole antennas are a new integratable element in the design of Si and GaAs monolithic millimeter wave systems. Unlike conventional metallic dipoles, the radiation characteristics of these antennas can be controlled by manipulating the carrier concentration in the semiconducting material. Numerical computations to evaluate the performance of Si and GaAs dipoles are presented. Physical layouts integrating these versatile antennas with other components are also discussed.
