Oblique impingement of two turbulent plane free jets
Abstract
This paper presents an experimental study on oblique impingement of two turbulent plane free jets. The effects of impinging angle, impinging position, and velocity ratio on the deflection angle and characteristics of a jet after impingement were investigated. The deflection angle is in good agreement with the result determined from consideration of total momentums of two jets. Turbulent intensity becomes maximum near the impinging point, but it approaches that of a free jet as downstream distance increases; the index of decay law of maximum velocity in a similar-profile region increases as impinging angle increases.
