Difference scheme based on spline in compression for the numerical solution of Burgers' equation in one and two space dimensions
Abstract
Implicit finite difference schemes based on spline in compression are developed for solving Burgers equation in one space variable and coupled Burgers' equation in two space variables. The schemes are of second order accuracy with respect to both time and space, unconditionally stable and non-iterative. ADI formulation for the schemes in two dimensions is given. These schemes have been applied on four examples and the results in all cases illustrate the efficiency of the schemes.
