Finite-element analysis of shielded microstrip disc resonator
Abstract
Results are presented of the application of a finite-element method to investigate the influence on the microstrip disc resonator capacitance of the dimensions (R and H) of the conducting enclosure box. Measured values of the resonant frequency for a constructed prototype compare well with theory and show that, to within 1 percent, the effects of the shielded box can be neglected for R greater than 3a and H greater than 2a, where a is the circular patch radius.
