Electric-discharge high-pressure infrared lasers and their applications
Abstract
Current theoretical and experimental research in the field of electric-discharge high-pressure infrared lasers is reviewed. Topics discussed include an analysis of the physical processes underlying the operation of electric-discharge high-pressure infrared lasers; active media used in such lasers; methods for calculating energy and spectral-temporal characteristics; and methods for generating a spatial discharge in electric-discharge high-pressure infrared lasers. The discussion also covers the operating modes and performance characteristics of electric-discharge infrared lasers and their various applications, including heat treatment, laser machining, laser fusion, laser propulsion, and laser accelerators.
