A CCD multiplexer for a pyroelectric thermal imaging array
Abstract
Recent interest has been focused on integrated cicuits to provide a signal processing and multiplexing capability for large pyroelectric detector arrays. This paper will describe the design and operation of an integrated CCD multiplexer for bonding directly to an array of pyroelectric detectors to form a large thermal imaging array. A brief description of the operation of pyroelectric detectors will be presented. The design and operation of a novel input technique for the interface and a brief theoretical analysis of the input will be discussed. Details of the signal processing at the output will be given, and various noise sources will be discussed and related to a noise equivalent temperature difference (NETD).
