Spline representation of incompressible flow
Abstract
A scheme is described for reconstructing a distribution of fluid velocities from given values of the net flow across the faces of a rectangular mesh in two or three dimensions. Assuming the data to be consistent, the reconstructed velocities will have the properties that the continuity condition is everywhere satisfied, that the track of any fluid particle is a smooth curve and that there is no flow across any part of the boundary that has been specified as representing a solid wall.
