Supersymmetrical Dual String Theories and Their Field Theory Limits  a Review
Abstract
This article outlines the construction and properties of supersymmetric string theories. Such theories, which describe the quantum mechanics of relativistic strings in ten spacetime dimensions contain both N = 4 YangMills and N = 8 supergravity field theories as special limits in which the string tension becomes infinite. Calculations of oneloop Smatrix elements reveal remarkable finiteness properties.
