Novel structure of laser diode and light-emitting diode realised by coaxial transverse junction (CTJ)
Abstract
A new structure of laser diodes and light-emitting diodes with coaxial transfer junction is proposed and demonstrated whose optical output as well as p-n junction is cylindrical and perpendicular to the substrate. The fabrication of this structure is described and its basic configuration is shown. A near-field emission pattern of the fabricated device is presented with intensity profile display. The input-current/optical-output characteristic of this light source is graphically depicted.
