Linear equalization theory in digital data transmission over dually polarized fading radio channels
Abstract
A theory of optimal (in a least-mean-square sense) equalization/cancellation in digital data transmission over two cross-coupled linear dispersive channels is presented. The channel model is discussed and the modulation and transmitter models are described. The receiver optimization problem is discussed and the theory for joint transmitter-receiver optimization is derived. Matched filter bounds on performance are derived and the information theory limit is developed. The developed propagation model is described and discussed and numerical evaluations are made and discussed.
