Transition prediction based on a differential field theory of turbulence
Abstract
The flow development in the transition region of a flat plate boundary layer is treated as an initial value problem. The governing system is closed with the incorporation of the Nee-Kovasznay theory as a simple turbulence model. Numerical calculations are performed to obtain the transition mean velocity profiles and transition characteristics.
