Coaxial noise measurement circuits
Abstract
The problems of building broadband radiometers for the calibration of noise sources with reference to coaxial thermal noise standards in the MHz and lower GHz range are presented. For these frequencies a radiometer with IF attenuation is described and the measuring uncertainties are stated. It is shown that the total uncertainty of this broadband measuring equipment is only slightly larger than the total uncertainty of the narrow band radiometer with RF attenuation for which the smallest uncertainties are reported when waveguide noise sources are calibrated.
