Field distribution inside a transmission line having an offset ellipse placed between two infinite ground planes
Abstract
The expression for the field distribution in the cross section of a transmission line with an offset elliptical center conductor is derived. From the field distribution, the maximum values of electric field on both top and bottom ground planes of the line are obtained. The normalized electric field on both ground planes is determined for the case having the center conductor midway between the ground planes. The charge distribution on the center conductor of the line has also been evaluated.
