Prospects for single-molecule detection in liquids by laser-induced fluorescence
Abstract
A laser induced fluorescence determination of aqueous solutions of rhodamine 6G which resulted in a detection limit of 18 attograms, or 22,000 molecules, of rhodamine 6G is discussed. These results allow the projection to single molecule detection with reasonable improvements in the experimental apparatus.
