A fourth order, cost effective and stable finite difference scheme for the convection-diffusion equation
Abstract
A Fourth Order Difference Scheme (FODS) is presented for solving the convection-diffusion equation in two dimensions. This scheme has a truncation error of order h to the 4th, h being the mesh spacing. The new method is stable and cost effective. Results of some numerical experimentation with the new scheme are given.
