Assessment of data handling configuration for on-board operation system definition
Abstract
Trends in spacecraft onboard data handling (and processing) (OBDH (and P)) systems are assessed. The adequacy of OBDH system configurations for new missions is considered. Standardization of the DHP systems in a reduced number of classes is proposed. Required extensions of OBDH definitions and performances are identified. Implementation solutions for DHP classes are proposed. Simple DHP systems, as used for GEO telecom missions or small scientific satellites; multipurpose systems, which can support all planned sophisticated satellite missions (except manned flight); and DHP systems for docking, and adaptation of the two previous classes, are covered.
