Preliminary results on gamma-ray transients in the Konus experiment on Venera 11 and 12
Abstract
The Konus instrumentation on Venera 11 and 12 registered 21 gamma-ray transients and 68 solar flares in the hard X-ray range over the initial period of observations lasing 50 days. The principal characteristics of the instrumentation are described, and preliminary data on the temporal structure and energy spectra of the gamma-ray transients are examined. The form of the distribution of the frequency of occurrence of the transients in relation to intensity is established.
