Technical and economic feasibility of Stirling cycle industrial heat pumps
Abstract
The technical and economic feasibility of Stirling cycle industrial heat pumps (SCHIP) was evaluated. The objective selection of four industrial processes and four Stirling cycle industrial heat pump concepts are detailed. Over 16 industrial heat pump concepts are considered. Performance and cost calculations are prepared for 33 industrial process/thermodynamic cycle combinations and over 12 mechanical configurations are evaluated for their reliability, maintainability, development risk and product characteristics.
