Stability of the FMIT high speed, free surface liquid jet flowing along a curved wall
Abstract
Measurements of surface wavelengths observed on the surface of curved wall, and free surface liquid jets are presented. Tests were performed in both liquid lithium and water in a Reynold's number range from 200 to 400, based on the surface speed and boundary layer displacement thickness. Results are found to compare favorably with observations of free surface flows in both submerged cavities and cylindrical jets. An effect of surface tension is observed from these results.
