Monolithic ceramic capacitors for use in high-voltage energy-storage applications
Abstract
A monolithic ceramic capacitor capable of peak discharge currents of over 2100 A was developed. The miniature capacitor will replace other high voltage energy storage capacitors, usually mylar or reconstituted mica. Production problems are minor and next assembly failures are virtually nonexistent which makes the monolithic ceramic capacitor an excellent alternative to traditional capacitors especially where size is of major concern.
