Directionality of the radiation of a misaligned cavity with a lens-like medium
Abstract
The sensitivity of the direction of the laser beam axis to a misalignment of cavity reflectors has been computed for reflectors of various geometries filled with a lens-like medium with a transverse gradient of the refraction index and of the gain factor. It is shown that the transverse inhomogeneity of the medium affects the sensitivity of the directionality of laser beams to the cavity reflector misalignment. The lower the focusing capacity of the cavity geometry, the more pronounced is the effect of the reflector misalignment. For certain combinations of cavity geometry and medium inhomogeneity, the direction of the axis of the beam axis is found to be insensitive to the misalignment of the output reflector. This finding can be used for stabilizing the beam position.
