Theory of the coherent interaction of light pulses and resonant multilevel media
Abstract
The interaction of coherent (laser) radiation pulses with resonant multilevel media is examined. The inverse scattering method is used to obtain analytical solutions describing the propagation of multifrequency pulses and their collisions in the self-induced transparency regime. Threshold conditions for the appearance of multifrequency solitons are established. Attention is given to the interaction of coherent pulses during parametric frequency mixing, and the length of conversion in a resonant medium is determined.
