The results of RARC-83 - Broadcasting satellite planning for Region 2
Abstract
The 1983 Regional Administrative Radio Conference (RARC) was convened to establish technical parameters applicable to broadcast satellite service in Region 2, which encompasses the Americas. The conference, designated 1983 RARC-SAT-R2, has led to the development of feeder link and downlink plans which are expected to satisfy broadcast satellite service requirements at least through the turn of the century. Provisions are made for the operation of interim systems, as well as the modification of the plan to accommodate changing service environments. With the exception of power flux density, which had to be decided by vote, concensus was reached on the set of technical parameters forming the basis of the plan.
