OMEGA: An optronic device to measure the incidence angle of a projectile
Abstract
Measurement instruments for application to terminal ballistics are studied. The classical methods to determine the angular position of a projectile just before impact are reviewed. The implementation and principles of operation of four optronics procedures are described, including the utilization of lateral photodiodes and diode arrays under single or multiple laser beam illumination. Results show that these methods can present a resolution power of 0.2 deg.
