On the evaluation of boundary layer measurements on boattailed bodies of revolution in axisymmetric compressible subsonic flow
Abstract
Turbulent boundary layer measurements of the boattailed afterbody of a single jet body of revolution are considered. An axisymmetric flow for Mach numbers 0.50 and 0.96 and for corresponding Reynolds numbers 860,000 and 1.96 million was employed. Only the jet-off flow case was considered. The reference flow (potential flow) required for the boundary layer evaluation can be derived from the real viscous flow without recourse to potential flow computational methods.
