RSRE speech data base recordings (1983). Part 1: Specification of vocabulary and recording procedure
Abstract
A data base of speech recordings which is currently made is described. The vocabulary which forms the basis of the data base can be conveniently divided into two parts. The first part is anglicized version of the Diagnostic Rhyme Test (DRT). This will be used for the assessment of speech communications equipment by subjective intelligibility tests, and for the evaluation of automatic speech recognition systems. The minimally contrasting pairs of rhyming words in the DRT in research which is directed towards the development of advanced speech recognition algorithms is used. The second part of the vocabulary consists of the 10 digits, the 26 letters of the alphabet and the 60 most frequent words in telephone conversation speech.
