Complex impedance of Ca/CaCrO4/Fe thermal batteries
Abstract
The frequency dispersion of the complex impedance of 5-cell Ca/CaCrO4/Fe thermal batteries and related battery components were measured. The battery resistance was partitioned among its components (bulk DEB, interfacial reaction layers, and leads and intercell connectors) and the relative magnitudes determined. The ohmic and non-ohmic contributions to the battery voltage losses were evaluated. A possible mechanism for battery end of life is presented.
