Central heat pump units: Problems of heat output control
Abstract
Methods of regulating the output of heat pumps, other than on-off controls are investigated. Speed variation of drive motor; modification of compressor constructional design; and varying the number of compressors were tested. Results suggest the best energy savings are achieved by step-by-step variation of the coolant mass flow, by parallel connection of compressors or by varying the speed with a drive motor with changeable poles.
