Radiometric mass flowmeter for two-phase solids/gas streams
Abstract
A radiometric mass flowmeter for two-phase solid-gas streams was developed and tested in a coal cold flow test loop. Mass flow was obtained as a product of density and particle velocity. These were measured by X-ray absorption and time cross-correlation values were obtained for sensor separation distances out to one meter; no orientation dependence was observed. Coal volumetric density uncertainties of plus or minus 6% were obtained.
