Computation of three-dimensional unsteady nonuniform flow in the blade-free annular channel of a turbomachine
Abstract
Three dimensional unsteady nonuniform compressible flow in the annular duct of an axial turbomachine fed under steady nonuniform conditions is computed using the disintegration method. A computation program for the case of severe distortion in the total inlet pressure level, with or without swirling motion, is outlined. Results show the effect of initial swirl of the flow in the presence of nonuniformities of the total pressure, characterized in particular by a modification of the three dimensional flow pattern in the cylindrical duct.
