Furnace evacuation parameters during the melting of titanium and titanium alloy ingots
Abstract
The arc voltage during the vacuum arc melting of titanium and titanium alloy ingots is investigated as a function of the pressure in the vacuum system. Determinations are made of the amounts of oxygen contained in titanium sponge and titanium ingots melted from the sponge. Ways to increase the safety of operation and the efficiency of vacuum arc furnaces are discussed.
