Mathematical method for the design of the intake branch in the case of centrifugal blade machines
Abstract
The present investigation is concerned with the derivation of formulas for the calculation of the geometrical characteristics of the intake branch of a centrifugal blade machine, taking into account the desired velocity relations of the potential flow at the intake branch surface. Attention is given to the necessary and sufficient conditions for obtaining the specified velocity distribution in connection with the shape of the intake branch. The feasibility of the successful use of the derived formulas for the computation of the shape of the inttake branch is demonstrated with the aid of a numerical example.
