Effect of nonlinear transport coefficients on the structure of planar shock waves
Abstract
The effect of viscosity and the combination of viscosity and heat conduction on the structure of planar shock waves moving at constant velocity through a gas of known density and pressure is studied. The viscosity is taken to be equal to f sub one(u) f sub two(du/dx) f sub three(T) and the heat conductivity equals f sub four(T), where u is the velocity, x the spatial coordinate, and f sub one, f sub two, f sub three, and f sub four are known functions. Some specific examples are analyzed.
