Analysis of methods for the realization of finite-impulse-response filters
Abstract
Two methods for the realization of low-pass and band-pass FIR filters are compared in terms of the number of required multiplications and additions: the FFT method and the frequency sampling (FS) method. It is shown that there exist relations between the filter passband and the discretization frequency in the case of which the FS method is superior to the FFT method in terms of the number of multiplications.
