Experimental setup with diversity reception for measuring the elements of a polarizational S-matrix
Abstract
The paper describes the design, basic characteristics, and measurement technique of a diversity-reception setup for determining the polarizational S-matrix elements of radar targets. The underlying measurement method is physical simulation, and the system is characterized by CW operation, an operating frequency band of 8-10 GHz, a radiating power of 10 W, linear polarization, and a dynamic range of reception of 60 dB. Results obtained using the setup are presented for an aluminum cylinder with a base diameter of 150 mm and a generatrix length of 300 mm.
