Imitation model of ray propagation in a three-dimensional turbulent medium
Abstract
The principle of modeling a three-dimensional turbulent medium by a set of spherically symmetric irregularities of different scales is described. A relationship is established between the parameters of the model and the parameters of the spatial spectrum of the permittivity fluctuations of the modeled medium. Attention is given to an algorithm for ray tracing in the medium, and to a method for determining the eikonal and intensity of an electromagnetic wave in the medium in Lagrangian coordinates. Ray tracing characteristics and eikonal fluctuations were calculated numerically for a medium with a Karman spectral function of permittivity fluctuations. Modeling results are compared with available analytic solutions for a continuous medium.
