Electromagnetic-wave diffraction by a doubly periodic array of semiinfinite dielectric rods
Abstract
Projection field matching is used to analyze the diffraction of electromagnetic waves at the boundary of free space and a doubly periodic dielectric structure. Orthonormal systems of transverse vector functions of homogeneous and transversely inhomogeneous Floquet channels are used in the partial regions. The problem is reduced to one of solving an inhomogeneous system of linear algebraic equations relative to the elements of the S-matrix of the periodic structure. A numerical study is presented of the convergence of the solution as the number of basis functions taken into account in the representation of the unknown field is increased. In addition, the behavior of the lower-mode reflection coefficient of a doubly periodic array of dielectric rods is investigated as a function of the parameters which characterize the incident wave and the structure.
