The Q-factor of a cylindrical resonator screened by a waveguide
Abstract
An electrodynamic system consisting of a cylindrical dielectric resonator situated inside a metallic waveguide symmetrically with respect to the x = 0 plane is presented. The dielectric cylinder and the screening waveguide are considered as a single composite resonator, and the Q-factor of free oscillations is assumed to coincide with the loaded Q-factor in the forced-oscillation regime. The dependence of the Q-factor of oscillations with different azimuthal indices on the dimensions of the screening waveguide is analyzed, and its tendency to the Q-factor of oscillations in free space as the screens are removed is examined.
