Some results of the optimization of a coaxial orotron
Abstract
The problem of optimizing a coaxial orotron in terms of electronic efficiency is examined. The distribution of the HF field along the interaction space, detuning, and Q are taken as the control factors. The formulation and direct numerical solution of the optimization problem are described. A method is presented for the synthesis of the focusing-mirror profile of the open resonator which realizes the optimal field distribution. An electronic efficiency of 60 percent was obtained in the optimal mode of operation.
