The diffraction of electromagnetic waves by surfaces with an admittance operator boundary condition
Abstract
A theoretical study is presented of electromagnetic-wave diffraction by a surface with an admittance boundary condition when the admittance is a linear operator (e.g., an intergrodifferential one). The Fourier coefficients of the unknown tangential component of the electric vector on this surface are determined. These coefficients can be used to determine the field. It is shown that for the problem to have a unique solution the operator must have a nonnegative 'real' part. Examples when the admittance is anisotropic and inhomogeneous are considered.
