A stable smoothing algorithm
Abstract
A robust algorithm is proposed for the smoothing of measurements of unequal precision in the digital processing of radar data; the algorithm is stable for small sample sizes. The efficiency of the algorithm is greater the smaller the sample size. As the sample size increases, the rms of the total error of the algorithm tends asymptotically to the rms when the sample mean is used.
