Investigation of the noise immunity of reception of quantum coherent signals with multilevel PSK
Abstract
An analysis is presented of the potential noise immunity of reception of quantum coherent signals with multilevel PSK in the absence of thermal noise. Quantum-statistical decision theory is used to obtain an algorithm for the optimal reception of optical signals with multilevel PSK. An analytical expression is obtained for the minimum mean probability of error of discrimination for the signals investigated. Calculations are presented of the potential noise immunity of reception of various numbers of multilevel-PSK signals transmitted in a quantum communication channel.
