Infrared Laser Spectroscopy of Free Radicals and Ions. I. The Fundamental Band of NF(X^3Σ^-)
The fundamental absorption band of the NF free radical in its ^3Σ^- ground state has been measured using a tunable diode laser spectrometer. The positions of fifty-one transitions in both P and R branches were accurately calibrated against reference gas lines. Analysis of the spectrum yields a value for the band centre of 1123.2788 (30) cm-1 and equilibrium rotational parameters: B_e 1.205 679 (160) cm-1; a_e 0.014 889 (160) cm-1; D_e 5.6 (8) x 10-6 cm-1.
