Mixed laminar convection on a vertical surface under conditions of strong injection
Abstract
Gas injection into a boundary layer is an effective method of surface protection in various heat exchange apparatuses. When the tempeature gradients between the wall and the flow become large, the effect of free convection due to a change in the density of the boundary layer must be taken into account. Here, an analysis is presented of asymptotic solutions to the equations of the laminar boundary layer for the case of mixed (free and forced) convection on a vertical surface under conditions of strong injection. Velocity and temperature distributions in the boundary layer are obtained, and the friction and heat flux at the wall are determined.
