Transfer of heat from a heated wire at high subsonic gas velocities
Abstract
A dimensionless approximation of heat transfer from a long, thin hot wire in high-speed subsonic gas flows is presented. Flow slip and thermal accommodation are corrected for it. This formula was checked experimentally and it was found that it is satisfactorily accurate to Mach numbers of approximately 0.8.
