Theory of a two-phase cooling film on an adiabatic wall
Abstract
An elementary theory of two-phase cooling films, developed on the basis of thermodynamic analysis of the mixing of vapor-liquid flows in the boundary layer that forms upon injection of a two-phase flow through a permeable zone of the wall is presented. Equations for calculating the efficiency of cooling of an adiabatic wall by a two-phase film are derived. A comparison of the two-phase and single-phase films in protecting walls from the effect of high-temperature gas flow is given, and the two-phase film is shown to be much more effective.
