Optical refraction in the earth atmosphere (Inclined paths)
Abstract
The present study is based on experimental results for astronomical, earth, photogrammetric, and local refraction, and particular attention is given to the calculation of the earth refraction on inclined paths. A detailed qualitative analysis of errors in numerical methods for calculating refraction includes a discussion of statistical and analytical atmospheric models. Other topics include approximation methods for calculating angles of photogrammetric refraction; refraction corrections in aerial photography; and the compensation of random image displacements and optical beams by adaptive optics methods.
