Slow modulation of periodic waves in rotating fluids
Abstract
The three-dimensional modulation of periodic waves in an incompressible fluid in a frame of reference rotating about the vertical z-axis with a uniform angular velocity Omega has been considered. The Krylov-Bogoliubov-Mitropolsky method of multiple scales has been employed to derive the modulation equation governing the slow variations of the amplitude of waves propagating in the medium.
