Broadband sensors for lethal defense suppression
Abstract
An outline is provided of the requirements for passive RF sensors to be used in lethal defense suppression applications, taking into account several antenna/receiver architecture options. Attention is given to various air defense systems, the threat radar frequency distribution, the specific frequency coverage requirements for a lethal defense suppression sensor, the instantaneous receiver bandwidth, aspects of antenna selection, an amplitude monopulse antenna system, interferometer antennas, the dual mode spiral antenna, questions of receiver selection, high IF versus low IF receiver tradeoffs, and CW processing alternatives.
